John Wayne Airport (SNA) serves the Orange County area. It is served by ten commercial passenger airlines and provides twenty non-stop flights to and from the US. Many airlines serve this airport.

The City of Irvine is served by Amtrak, which is an intercity rail service that operates throughout the nation with stops in Southern California and the Orange County. Amtrak offers rail service via the Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink with a stop in Irvine. The OCTA (Orange County Transportation Authority) bus route 86 connects to the Amtrak train station.

Metrolink: The Orange County Transporation Authority manages and operates the Metrolink in Irvine. It is a commuter rail network with three lines, out of which two lines run through the city of Irvine- the Inland Empire-Orange County and the Orange County Line. Irvine is located at the crossroads of freeways 405 and 5. You can get to Irvine by car via these freeways. To get to northwest Irvine, state freeway 55 can be used. 

The Toll Roads

Public Transportation

Public transportation in Irvine includes OCTA buses, iShuttle and Metrolink. The OCTA (Orange County Transportation Authority) is the largest public transportation provider in Irvine.

The iShuttle provides two routes in Irvine with stops at the airport, some popular restaurants, attractions and hotels. The fare ranges from $0.50 to $1; for off-peak hours, the fare is $0.50 and for peak hours it is $1.
